ITPC Durham Social is dedicated to making a profound impact on the lives of individuals and newcomers to Canada by fostering a sense of community engagement and support within the diverse area of Durham Region located around the GTA.As a not-for-profit social enterprise, ITPC Durham Social offers a variety of low priced services across several critical areas. These include health, employment, civic engagement, legal assistance, political rights, and language support. By providing these essential services at low cost, ITPC Durham Social helps ensure that all individuals have access to the support they need to thrive.

We focus particularly on empowering youth, women and seniors in the Durham region, offering comprehensive support that spans social, economic, educational, medical, financial, and settlement needs. The languages we speak include many of the top languages spoken in Durham Region. These include: Arabic, Bengali, Cantonese, Dari, Farsi, Greek, Hindi, Italian, Mandarin, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Spanish, Tagalog/Filipino, Tamil and Urdu. Through our efforts, we aim to uplift these communities and help them navigate various challenges effectively
Join NowThe inception of our initiative can be traced back to a Worker Cooperative Development Project funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, and executed by the Women’s Multicultural Resource and Counseling Centre of Durham. This project aimed to support and empower diverse women within the community through workshops focused on the concept and benefits of worker cooperatives, which emphasize collective ownership and democratic decision-making.
Motivated by a shared commitment to community service, several women—equipped with language skills and interpretation certifications—expressed a keen interest in contributing to this community-centered service initiative. This enthusiasm quickly grew into a cooperative, leading to the formation of the Interpreters and Translators Platform Co-operative Inc. Officially incorporated by the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, this cooperative leverages the collective skills and passions of its members to deliver valuable interpretation and translation services to the community
At ITPC Durham Social, we believe in the power of community and the strength of collective action. The services that we provide now focus on empowering the youth, women and seniors in the Durham Community. We want make a positive impact and foster a more inclusive society for all.
